Hey there, lovely souls! As we gear up to celebrate the official day of love, there's one relationship that deserves a little extra attention – the one we have with ourselves. That's right, it's time to cozy up with a cup of self-love and embrace the beautiful, imperfect, utterly fabulous person staring back at us in the mirror.

WHAT IS SELF LOVE

First things first, let's debunk a myth or two about self-love. It's not about being self-absorbed or indulgent, it's about recognizing your own worth, embracing your quirks and imperfections, and treating yourself with the same kindness and compassion you would offer a dear friend. Think of it as giving yourself a big, warm hug from the inside out – because let's face it, you deserve it!

self love quote

MANIFESTING & EXPANDING

When you love yourself unconditionally, you become a magnet for all good things in life... manifestation practice anyone? You radiate confidence, joy, and authenticity, drawing in relationships, opportunities, and experiences that align with your highest good. Plus, when you're grounded in self-love, you're less likely to seek validation from external sources – which is a slippery slope when we start relying on other people to dictate how we feel about ourselves.

But perhaps the most beautiful thing about self-love is its ripple effect. When you love yourself fiercely, you give others permission to do the same. You become a beacon of light, inspiring those around you to embrace their own worthiness and shine their brightest. So go ahead, be the love you wish to see in the world – you never know whose heart you might touch along the way.

WHERE TO START

The first step is making time for yourself just like you make time for everyone else in your life! Leallo founder Meg has a few self-love habits that really help her find joy in her busy schedule…

  • I play tennis with girlfriends once a week.  We have it scheduled every Tuesday morning at Ross School, so it feels like more of a commitment that we don't want to miss. It’s also paid for in advance so that always helps to push you to take the time to go.  We just started playing together a bit over 2 years ago and we all really try to stick with the commitment since it really does bring us so much joy!
  • I go for walks. Sometimes if I only have 30 min I'll try and get some fresh air and listen to a podcast on a walk.  I really love Worlds First Podcast with the Foster Sisters.  They make me laugh, and as next level as they are, they definitely try to be relatable.
  • I also got a Bon Charge sauna blanket last year and it’s become a bit of a joke in our house when nobody can find me, I'll hear my son say, 'she’s in her hot blanket!’ 😂
  • And finally, I love a good facial, and Judith Desiree in Sag Harbor is so gentle and amazing.  I’ve been seeing her for over 10 years.

Remember, self-love isn't a one-size-fits-all kind of deal – it's about finding what lights you up and makes your soul sing, and unapologetically embracing it.

So, as we celebrate Valentine's Day this year, let's make a pact to shower ourselves with all the love and affection we deserve. Whether you're flying solo or coupled up, remember that the most important relationship you'll ever have is the one you have with yourself. So go ahead, be your own Valentine – because the greatest love of all starts right here, right now, with you.

xoxo
